Instead of spending $12 on one, pre-made lasagna, I can use fresh, healthy ingredients to make 3 lasagnas at once on a Sunday afternoon – of which my large freezer has come in handy! Suddenly I am making all sorts of food-processor recipes including soups, dips, smoothies, coleslaws, salads, quiches, omelets, cupcakes, brownies and the list goes on!

When I decided to make this exciting investment, I quickly became overwhelmed with the amount of useless and (quite embarrassing) testimonial websites that were obviously sponsored by the product companies themselves. For anyone who has ever watched a late night infomercial, you know what I am talking about!

After doing countless hours of research online, speaking to friends and family, and testing products of friends and family, I made it my summer goal to find the best quality food processor for a price that makes the investment worth it! And since I know how many family-oriented people (the best kind of people!) would be thrilled to learn what I have learned, I am creating this blog to let you in on what I have discovered.

As my post suggests, the KitchenAid Food Processor is my personal pick because it is pleasing to look at, has the most power and there are so many attachments that can accomplish basically any task! I remember in College when my mom bought me my first kitchenaid food processor as a Christmas present because she knew I loved to cook. At first I was like, ok, thanks, but when am I going to have the time to use this? In school I really didn’t have time to cook except on the weekends and that’s when I began making these giant platters like pastas, casseroles and enchiladas (mmm) for the freezer. My roommates would even start trying to pay me to eat my food (moochers.. haha). The KitchenAid food processor became by new bestie in the kitchen and it was love ever since and had to write about it on Food Processor Reviews!

It’s actually quite interesting how the KitchenAid food processor company started up. Although the name KitchenAid was coined until 1919 the founder of the company Herbert Johnson created the first actual mixer back in 1908.    He was looking for a device that would save time and effort when making bread dough.   What he came up with was the 80-quart mixer.     However it was another seven years before other people begun to see the benefits of using this machine.    Whereas the time it took people to see the benefits of using a KitchenAid food processor was a great deal shorter. In 1919 a subsidiary of Herbert’s main company Hobart Manufacturing began to produce the “H-5” mixer, which utilized “planetary action”.   This action causes the beater to rotate in one direction whilst moving he dough mixture around in the opposite one.

Throughout the 1920’s and 1930’s a wide range of other appliances were produced under the KitchenAid name including a range of food processors and they became a great deal smaller.   In fact the models you see available today are very much based on the same models that were being produced back in the 1930’s.   Although the designs may not have changed much over the years the use of technology, such as motor strength, within them has. And they can perform so many functions now its crazy! Of course with so many different types of KitchenAid food processors to choose from today, how do you determine which one is right for you?   There are three main things to consider when deciding which kind of food processor you should be purchasing and these are as follows:

Size – This is the most important of all things you need to consider.   To determine which size KitchenAid food processor you should buy you should be looking at what you will be using yours for.    If you only want to make sauces or for dicing up herbs and garlic then a mini model will suffice.    However if you want something that is easily going to prepare dough or pastry mixtures you will need to invest in the full size models available.

Although not as powerful as the first model this KitchenAid food processor can still easily dice, slice, chop and puree a variety of different ingredients placed into it.   As you will come to notice with any food processors from KitchenAid the sealed housing which is extremely durable also ensures that when being operated it doesn’t make a great deal of sound.    This one all accessories including the bowls can be placed in a dishwasher to be cleaned and it also comes with the 4 cup mini bowl and blade as the first model does.

KitchenAid Food Processor Model 3 –Kitchenaid 7 Cup Food Processor

If you are looking for a compact machine that will enable you to cut preparation of meals down then look no further than this particular KitchenAid food processor.   It may be one of the smallest but is just as effective at cutting, slicing, dicing, shredding, mincing, blending and mixing as the other two models are.   Again all the accessories included with this model such as the reversible slicing/dicing blade can be cleaned in the dishwasher.

This blog, Food Processor Reviews  , was created after returning to work and discovering the magic of the food processor when it comes to cooking for my family. This is the model that I upgraded from  and  is 2nd on the food processor reviews list! Since I am now known as the “food processor advocate” in and around my family and friends, I tend to take over when I go over there!  Again, here are the reasons why I recommend this model:

• It has a very powerful motor! That means the blades work really well to cut, chop, and especially shred cheese!
• It is extremely quiet!
• The smaller bowl that it comes with makes it easier if you are just doing a small job = less clean-up!
• I can put everything in the dishwasher after making clean up quick and easy
• It comes in a variety of colors to match your kitchen decor
• I would also recommend investing in the package that contains the food processor unit, the 5 extra blades and the recipe handbook as the price for the blades alone outweighs the extra cost added to the package!

One disadvantage however is that the machine itself is slightly bulky and heavy making storage more difficult to find. This is needed however for the stronger motor and larger bowl capacity which makes it a better quality product but still on the top of the food processor reviews list.
